ABOUT

Marcus Jordan is a preacher, praiser and former police officer whose boundless musical influences have shaped his limitless musical imagination. His music is reflective of his journey and the natural connection he has to the people his music touches.

The chart-topping and award-winning artist and songwriter began serving local churches at the age of seven, after convincing his mother of his divine gift. Jordan continued to hone his craft and later accompanied artists in the Houston area. As a musician in the house band for Music World Entertainment, Jordan was blessed to accompany several of its notable R&B and Gospel artists, including Solange Knowles.

Jordan was happy being a member of Music World’s house band, even though he had a desire to be an artist himself. It wasn't until Solange Knowles complimented his voice during a fateful exchange that he began to actualize that desire. Soon after, Jordan released his first EP, “I Can,” and began singing at churches and events throughout his hometown of Houston, Texas. Jordan was fully focused on singing when he answered the call to succeed his father as pastor of the Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church. While ministry at Saint Paul (now Praise City Church) continued, and as his burgeoning music career progressed, Jordan answered the call to another form of service: In 2017, after earning an associate degree and completing the University of Houston’s Downtown Police Academy, he became a member of the Houston Police Departmentwith a dedication to making a difference in the fourth largest city in United States.

In 2021, Jordan released his debut full-length album Call On the Name. The album debuted at #3 on iTunes’ Christian/Gospel chart, bolstered by the chart-topping gospel radio single and title-track. Produced by iconic musical mastermind Rodrick “Bubba” Dowling, the single soared to #1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart and spent 42+ weeks in Top 30. The song peaked at #17 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart and earned a #32 position on Billboard's 2022 Year-End Gospel Airplay Songs chart. In 2023, “Call On the Name” was still in rotation, ending that year as #27 on Billboard’s Year-End Gospel Airplay Songs.

In April 2023 Marcus released the upbeat, high-energy gospel-pop track “Dance”, earning him asecond Top 20 record on Billboard’s Gospel chart. Later that year, Jordan released the six-track EP My Life. The impressive release debuted at #4 on iTunes Christian chart and #53 on the All-Genre chart. The title-track was featured on Apple Music’s Gospel Best New Songs and New in Gospel playlist. A testament to the impact of his artistry, Marcus’ music reached the impressive milestone of 1 million all-time streams on Apple Music in January 2024.

Jordan views his music as a vehicle for inspiration. “I love to encourage people and give people a sense of hope through my music,” he says. “Knowing that I have another song that people are gravitating to makes me know that I am doing the right thing.”

Jordan is indeed doing the right thing and proves he’s got the “write” stuff as the music he composes continues to inspire listeners to trust God, have hope and even dance! People are at the core of all Marcus Jordan does. Whether he’s serving as pastor, police officer or artist, Jordan has a goal to help people move from where they are to where they can be. With his growing catalogue of chart-topping hits, Marcus Jordan is entering into a place of prominence in Gospel music as his trending traction has garnered enthusiastic anticipation from both fans and industry professionals.

Currently, Jordan’s “I Can” is again making waves, nestled in the Top 20 on Billboard’s Gospel Chart. The singer/songwriter sought the Lord about the messages to put out, and each song birthed through prayer and meditation. The soulful “I Can” is a reminder that everything is possible with God.

Marcus Jordan is proof that with God, all things are indeed possible. In addition to creating songs that are saturating radio airwaves, he has ministered on iconic stages at the Essence Music Festival and the Stellar Gospel Music Awards, and has shared the stage with the likes of Jonathan McReynolds, JJ Hairston, Deitrick Haddon, James Fortune, and Maurette Brown Clark.

As Jordan continues to make an impact with his music, the realization of what he can do remains to be seen. One thing is certain, though: Marcus Jordan has a song for you to experience the goodness of God in your life.
